Solutions

The amount of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) generated in big cities in Malaysia is very alarming. In Kuala Lumpur, the total waste generated is about 2,500 tons daily or about 1.7 kg/person daily! The existing landfills are being overused and should have been closed by now. However, until today, no solution is in place. The government, through the Strategic Master Plan, encourages the development of local technologies that are cheap and yet comply with International Standards.

Due to this, we have taken the initiative to develop the RDF Technology that suits Malaysian MSW. MINT has been commissioned to collaborate in the development of this technology together with UPM. A 15 tons/day RDF Research Centre was established in 2001 in Kajang, Selangor to refine the concept as well as to collect more data. In 2002, through our subsidiary RESB, we have received all relevant and necessary approvals from by the Government to set-up a 700 tons/day commercial facility in Semenyih, Selangor based on the early success of the RDF Research Centre.
